Meet our speakers

Dr Amanda Head

Dr Amanda Head teaches law at Macquarie Law School and is a published researcher in family law and succession law. Graduating in 2009 with first-class honours in law from Macquarie, Amanda was awarded the prize for legal ethics and the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Law, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2011. She also has a Bachelor of Economics and is a certified practicing accountant. She has worked in family law as a legal associate for trial and appeal judges of the Family Court of Australia and as a solicitor in family law.

Dr Andrew Burke

Dr Andrew Burke is the Director of the Juris Doctor program and a lecturer at Macquarie Law School. He completed the Bachelor of Science (Environmental Resource Management) and Bachelor of Laws at Macquarie University, and the Master of Laws at the University of Sydney before undertaking his PhD at Macquarie on the sentencing of environmental crimes. Andrew was the director of the NSW Environmental Defenders Office and a solicitor in private practice specialising in criminal defence.
