Meet our speakers

Ilija Vickovich

Ilija Vickovich is a lecturer at Macquarie Law School and unit convenor and lecturer for the Evidence and Contracts units of the Juris Doctor program. Ilija was editor of the Macquarie Law Journal from 2012 to 2019, has co-authored books on evidence, contract law, equity, and civil procedure, and has published scholarly articles. With extensive experience in litigation and commercial matters as a legal practitioner for more than 20 years, Ilija brings a practical orientation to his teaching and research regarding historical and theoretical context.

Dr Andrew Burke

Dr Andrew Burke is the Director of the Juris Doctor program and a lecturer at Macquarie Law School. He completed the Bachelor of Science (Environmental Resource Management) and Bachelor of Laws at Macquarie University, and the Master of Laws at the University of Sydney before undertaking his PhD at Macquarie on the sentencing of environmental crimes. Andrew was the director of the NSW Environmental Defenders Office and a solicitor in private practice specialising in criminal defence.
